App/LTI Integrations Available in Canvas

Most of the third party apps available in TritonEd (Blackboard) are now available in our Canvas environment. These tools include apps such as Turnitin, Gradescope, and iClicker. The list below provides the status of often-requested integrations and links to further information.

Locally developed integration that will give faculty the option of importing end-of-semester total grades from Canvas to the official course grade roster into eGrades.

Google

Google Apps offer cloud-based applications, including Google Docs, Spreadsheets, Slides, and Drive. These apps can be used to access and attach files to Canvas content and assessments. The apps can also be used to create real-time collaborative student activities.

Gradescope

Gradescope is a tool that enables instructors to grade paper-based work quickly and consistently. It also allows instructors to view statistics of the entire class and notify students once their work is graded.

Kaltura is a system for creating, publishing, and managing all of your video. Students can view the presentation in real-time and/or can access the presentation for viewing at a later date through their learning management system.

SIMnet is an easy-to-use online training and assessment solution for Microsoft Office. It provides students with life-long access and unlimited practice on Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint in addition to file management, and operating systems content.

Perusall is a social annotation tool. Perusall allows students and their instructors to collaboratively markup .pdf documents. Instead of reading a document and discussing it, Perusall brings the discussion to the text.

LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within a learning management system.

SCORM

SCORM is a set of standards that allows educators to add interactive elements to their content. For example, multiple choice questions can be incorporated into a video to test for understanding. Content authoring software, such as Captivate, Articulate, or Camtasia contain SCORM packaging options. Turnitin - "Classic"

Turnitin is a plagiarism-prevention service which checks student documents for unoriginal content. The results can be used to identify similarities to existing sources or can be used to help students learn how to avoid plagiarism and improve their writing.

Turnitin - Plagiarism Framework

Similar to Turnitin "Classic," the Plagiarism Framework provides a similarity report on a student's submission, but feedback, including the use of rubrics and peer review is done through Canvas. The Plagiarism Framework integration also allows the submission of group assignments.
